Are you saying that Raytheon's defense business doesn't make an
important contribution to the quality of its tech support for its other
customers? That's what I said in the paragraph which I've repeated
below, in case you've already lost track of the conversation.

"I'd tell you what's paying for that great service, but it would turn
this
into a political discussion. It's enough to say that it's your tax
dollars,
and that you should buy as much RTN stock as you can afford, along with
some
HRS."

Perhaps a bit less obscurity in your initial posit would have been
helpful.

Was it obscure to you?

No, but I don't watch Faux News or listen to Reich Wing Radio or read the
NY Post.

What???

You need news sources to have a clue about Raytheon's business?

You do know that Raymarine has not been a business division of
Raytheon since 2001 right?

Was the buyout complete? I thought Raytheon still held a percentage of
ownership. Also, wasn't some overseas company involved in the original
divestiture?

No. Occupied on multiple levels at the moment. You understood where I was
going with my comment about Raytheon.

Yes.

And admit it - you are bored. :)

Speaking of bass guitars...

I'm thinking about getting one of these.

I thought you didn't like bass? Or, was that a thing du jour? :)

Um...no - Raytheon does not have any interest in Raymarine.

The Recreational Products Division was sold to management in a
levereged buy out with backing from British private equity firm
administered by KPMG.

It has no affiliation to Raytheon.

I stand corrected. Last I read was in the middle of the reorg, which must've
been momentarily as Harry described it (2000-2001-ish?) I thought they were
maintaining a minor interest.

Not what I asked - what do you think?

I'm just thinking of getting something a little easier to play.

I messed around with one of these yesterday and had a lot of fun with
it.

Don't know that I want to learn a whole new technique though.

As I remember it, they held an interest for six months until the
inventory and brands/trademarks/copyrights were organized and
transferred and Raymarine stopped using Raytheon facilities in
Newport, RI.

Raymarine moved out of Newport to their own facility in NH. Once that
happened, Raytheon divested the entire division.

I think it was in 2001 and something like 100 million changed hands.

Now whether Raytheon has money in the British PEF, I have no idea and
I seriously doubt if you could ever find out.

Why not buy a nice flamenco guitar? If you have an interest, I can
recommend a few.
