The point I was trying to make, maybe not quite clearly, is we can survive and thrive, but we do not need to continually throw away billions of dollars every year on programs/countries/whatevers that provide zero return. The return is not always tangible. Nor is there a requirement for an immediate return. Helping to build up the economies of third world nations will yield benefits to future generations in those third world nations and here in the USA. We have to stop thinking about ourselves and think about the future, 25, 50 and 100 years out. |
