And know what? If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a

Agreed!
I'd still go on that last mission even though I got my **** scattered.
Hell, how many chances does a dozen guys get to kick a Battalions ass.
Em well, hold out against them anyway. :o)

PS...I would move back about ten feet to the other side of the stone
wall though. LOL

Yeah, that's what I'd want to do...go to the other side of the world to
kill people I don't know who live in a country that neither attacked nor
threatened us

Harry, would that have included Germany 65 yr's ago, or so?

That is, if you were old enough?

World War II was a entirely different matter, and no, I wasn't.

Maybe my memory is going, but didn't you once say you served in
Vietnam in some capacity?

Yup. But I didn't go there to kill people.

Something cool that Xerox is doing ... Please take a moment to go to
the
website below and pick out a thank you card for our Troops. We've got
tons
to be thankful for during the holiday season. Wouldn't it be wonderful
of
each of our soldiers (and Marines, of course) received a bunch of
these???

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a
thank
you card. Then Xerox will print it and send it to a soldier
currently serving in Iraq .

You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the
armed
services.

Have a super day!

I guess I missed your comments in the "Our Marine" supporting my son and
his accomplishment.

Please check the thread again, you missed mine.

I was hoping for a nice thick serving of humble pie.
If you're really hungry, I'll be doing two turkeys this year

Well, I can only eat one.

Maybe I'll do three. You want it smoked, rotisseried, or baked. I don't do
deep fried. I like my deck too much.

smoked would be a nice change

It was the same type of war, just on a smaller scale. One country trying
to dominate the world and another country trying to stop them, fought in
a country that was a pawn of both.

I just talked to my SIL to give him some personal support. He's
leaving for Iraq early next month. Army infantry.
I don't know if this will apply to your son if he gets sent there,
but my SIL has been pretty sick the last 6 weeks or so with smallpox
and anthrax vaccinations. The anthrax is six vaccinations.
Basically, he has to keep his distance from other people, no kissing,
hugging, etc.
Since he's biologically active, and my daughter is still radioactive
from thyroid cancer treatment, they have their own little WMD deal
going in their apartment. They are probably more f**king dangerous
than Saddam ever was.
If your son is going to get vaccinations, give him a hug first.

--Vic

Having a SIL over there is probably about as bad as having a son over
there. You will feel much more responsible for helping the daughter with
anything that goes wrong, and worry as much as you would for a son.

Good luck to him. Hopefully his unit has a good support group for those
left behind. That can be a big help.
