Took the boat out last night only to discover that the tach is reading around

My first inclination is to say oh well, who needs a tach anyway. The sound of
the engine tells me what I need to know, but if I can repair it myself and

Tach is a US Marine mounted in a 2000 Bayliner 1950 Capri. 3.0L Mercruiser

Agree with Gould on this one. Also, you may check with the tach manufacturer. I
had a tach go bad after the boat warranty, but found that all the instruments
had a ten year warranty. I sent in the tach, they sent me a new one. For a
nominal fee ($10) I could upgrade the warranty to lifetime. I was too cheap to
do that. Besides, one of these liberal potshots might just get me sooner than
later!
