That was part of Hammond's objection to the sound. They've done a good job
duplicating it in the XK3. There's some sound samples available on the web
if you search for them.

My problem is that I don't want to buy "online". I am trying to find a
brick and mortar type music shop within reasonable driving distance because
I want to customize the package.

Of course, if Harry knows of a new B3 and full Leslie, I might change my
mind. This is crazy, but currently we have two grand pianos in our house,
one acoustical, the other electronic.

If I found a real B3 with Leslie that were in excellent condition, I'd
seriously think about replacing one of them.

I know of some beautifully rebuilt B3s with Leslies.

We had a series of Hammonds in our house when I was growing up. My
father was a player. One of those was a B3. We also had a Wurlitzer and
a Gulbransen. None compared to the Hammonds.

Ethel Smith was one of the greatest Hammond players who ever lived. She
played the B3 like no one else I have ever heard. My father was an
advanced amateur theater and pop tune organist, and took us to several
Smith concerts and shows. She was just amazing.

This morning we were teased with spring-like weather. Within the past
hour
the temp has dropped like a rock, clouds have rolled in, wind is howling
and
they have issued severe weather warnings.

But, the boat is nice and toasty warm with the heaters running and the
coffee is fresh.

Life is good.

Now that I know where the boat is, the next bad weather expect a
visitor. :)

You can move into the other stateroom with the B3 you tried to bring home.

My father was an accomplished pianist and trombone player. When I bought my
first electronic spinet organ ... a Wurlitzer ... he had a hard time
adjusting to the key action.

I had the Wurlitzer for a few years then got a bigger Yamaha. By that time
some of the keyboards were getting pretty good and I started using them,
mostly Yamahas.

My current keyboards include a stacked setup ... a large Casio on the bottom
and a decent, high end Yamaha on the top. The Yamaha does a good job
emulating the sound of a Hammond with Leslie, but it's not the real McCoy.

It's a great instrument that you never really get bored with. It also does
a good job with the sampling of a B3, other drawbar type Hammonds and a
wide range of other voices.

It also sounds like a real, acoustic piano.
