That is a good 1st step for the Tribe this year.

After all............you lost your skipper and will most likely lose several
key players.........thanks to the Tribe.

Remind me again where you call home Wayne.

I guess this is where we both get a chance to become gracious losers.

Let's just say that Joe Torre and I used to hang out at the same
restaurant once in a while.

I'll tell you that the Yankees are a class act. When the Sox won in
2004, the opening day ceremonies at Fenway included the Yankees and
they were all in their dugout watching and applauding. And give old
George credit - when the Sox won the ACLS, they kept the lights on in
Yankees Stadium so the celebrations could continue.

And of course, one of the more memorable moments in baseball, came
during the introduction of the players - Rivera got a standing O for
giving up the winning run. I'll never forget it - he tipped his cap
to the crowd with a big grin on his face and the place went nuts in
appreciation.

Baseball - gotta love it.

I figured something like that.

Torre was the perfect manager for New York. I'd bet money he'll be
back there.

Joe is a class act, always the perfect gentleman in whatever he does.
I sort of half expected the Yankees to offer him a front office job to
keep him in the organization.

Why are you so ashamed to let us know the city you call home when not

living
on the boat?

Actually, not a bad practice in Usenet.

Fair question after he chose to insult the place I call home.

Touchy, touchy. The river did catch fire you know, it's not like I
made it up. Nor did I invent the unfortunate expression "rust belt".

Like my own home town in upstate NY, I'm sure Cleveland is a good
place to be from.

As W.C. Fields once said about Philadelhia: "First prize, one week;
second prize, two weeks".

On my last business trip to Cleveland I drove to the airport in a
blinding snowstorm and got out of Dodge on the last flight before they
closed the place down. Never went back.

I now live in a place where snow is illegal and the water is not
Eerie. With any luck you'll be able to do that some day. There are a
lot of "Ohhhies" where we live now. They come down on I-75 in the
winter and drive very sedately in their white GM cars. Everyone
cheers when they leave in the spring and highway speeds return to
normal.

PS, all returned insults *must* be in good taste, and at least
moderately creative. No 4 letter words, no bathroom humor, no
kindergarten krapp, and a brief mention of boats or water would be in
keeping of the newsgroup's intended subject matter.

Too bad about your "Tribe". They looked pretty impressive for 4
games.

Damn Yankees..... mutter.

Maybe so, but not all. One of my nephews is going out with a young
lady from Philly who is just drop dead, stunning, gorgeous.

I have actually stopped surfing channels to watch Torre in the
playoffs and such, even when he was beating the Sox. Can't take
anything away from Torre.
