Bob and Tom said the money Gore will clear from his part of the prize
should just about cover the bill for his pool heater.

Must be nice. But $30,000 in a year electricity it makes me wonder what he
does at home.

I just realized this.

Notice anything odd about the Subject line in the thread?

Unintentional Freudian slip?

~~ snerk ~~

Are you sayin' he 'bought' the award somehow?

With the currancy necessary to win lately being either blood on your
hands (Gorbechev sp?), outright rape of UN funds (Anon), proven
unapologizing terrorist (Arafat), or just hatred for democracy and
decent hard working Americans (Carter) , I would say, yes..

I thought it was done purposely out of a sense of honesty.

(Good catch, Tom!)

A terrific honor for Al and the United States.

Yep, and congrats to him for his award and commitment, regardless of
whether
global warming is indeed, man induced.

It's ironic that had he been declared the victor in 2000, it is
unlikely he
would receiving a Nobel prize today.

Eisboch

Puts him in the elite company of Jimmy Carter, Yassar Arafat and Kofi
"oil for food" Annan.

Ewwww. Very low.

Maybe he's starting trees to sell as 'carbon offsets' with his 'grow
lights'.

Oh wait, the warming cycle has always *preceeded* the co2 increases by 800
years. That 'inconvenient' truth is conveniently omitted by Mr. Gore in
his movie. Wonder what the Nobel committee thought of that?

Most republicans think that global warming isn't happening in any way,
man made or otherwise. Imagine how awful they must feel realizing that
someone won the Nobel prize for something they believe to be
fictitous.

This is the citation of the Nobel Committee:

"Indications of changes in the earth's future climate must be treated
with the utmost seriousness, and with the precautionary principle
uppermost in our minds. Extensive climate changes may alter and
threaten the living conditions of much of mankind. They may induce
large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's
resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the
world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of
violent conflicts and wars, within and between states."

So, if I have this straight, Gore won for proselytizing a less than
universally accepted "scientific" theory which, presumably, has led to
action which prevented (or not) possible future competition for
resources, possible future conflicts, and future wars which haven't
happened yet and which may (or may not) ever occur because they are
only a possibility.

I think is a great precedent! If one can win a Nobel Peace Prize for
preventing events from transpiring which never actually would have
happened anyway, than I am your man.

Year 2050: Shortwave Sportfishing's posting of the first rec.boats low
transom thread is finally received by the residents of Omicron Perseii
VIII, saving the Earth from brutal annexation.

Gimme my prize!! You can keep the medal, just give me the million
bucks.- Hide quoted text -

Have you ever heard of a place called Somalia? It's universally
accepted that the civil wars there are attributed to climate change.
Drought.
