Eisboch Not sure, but I think he lost the weight due to health reasons instad of *image* (large threat of diabetes) I didn't mean to suggest he lost weight to *enhance* his image for political reasons. I just meant that among many achievements, he did something about being overweight. I can relate to that! Eisboch |

Do you understand the concept of a Democratic Republic?? Do you understand that the country is bigger than your basement apartment and a stack of playboy magazines? Those with *very* liberal viewpoints often take on a pseudo-superior, "I am smart, you are dumb" attitude when engaged in otherwise informative and meaningful discussion with someone who does not agree with him. In other words, if you don't agree, you are ill-informed or stupid or both. If you read his comments, you'll see that it is a consistent approach to debate. Eisboch |

wrote in message ps.com... Yeah, and Hillary is solid as a rock, right? I don't hear Romney taking 4 positions on an issue, with four different dialects, in one day. Not to mention, at least Romney is willing to stand up in front of a hostile interivew and explain his posititions and their evolution. Not on dem (Hillary) will even take unscripted questions, much less address the other half of the country. Everytime she gets a quesiton she doesn't like, she attacks the questioner, it is a tactic developed by the Clintons back a few years ago... They just call it a vast right wing conspiracy, and dodge.. All the time setting up groups like Media Matters to lie and run interferance.. Although I lean towards the "right" politically, I've always tried to keep an open mind during election seasons. There are so many problems to resolve, both domestic social issues and in international affairs that it would be stupid not to give every serious candidate some consideration, regardless of their party affiliation. Having said that, my impressions of Hillary (so far) are as follows: 1. Brilliant mind. 2. Politically experienced. 3. Media experienced. but: 4. Seems to be motivated by a drive for personal achievement rather than having a real national interest vision. 5. Continues to propose domestic programs that border on socialism, (which, of course, gets votes). Think about it. Only 50 percent of the population pays income taxes. 6. Admitted Yankees fan. Number 5 (and 6) are bothersome for me. I, for one, am all for delaying the eventual slide of the USA to socialism for as long as humanly possible. I'd much rather provide tax money, donations and service to enable those in need (but otherwise physically and mentally capable) with the tools and knowledge to provide for themselves rather than becoming dependents of the government. You never fail to meet my expectations of you, which are pretty low. "you, you, you", as I said. |

... I, for one, am all for delaying the eventual slide of the USA to socialism for as long as humanly possible. I think most people would agree with that. But, it's hard to tell without definitions. What's your brief definition of socialized medicine, for instance? Explain as if you needed to say it in a short sentence to an economics class. |

What do you think should happen if: - A 16 year old girl is raped and becomes pregnant - Her parents are fully aware of the rape - Her parents are dead set against her having an abortion How many abortions are performed due to rape versus the number performed following consenting sexual relations that results in an inconvenient pregnancy? Eisboch I don't know. Why is a statistic important to a girl who doesn't want to carry a baby that was conceived in an act of violence? |
