It is the best time of the day to get some work done. No phone calls and no interruptions. When I was fighting the corporate wars, I always got in by 5:30 AM, cleared my desk, did what ever was left over, got the day's schedule rolling. Got more done between 5:30 and 9 AM than I did the entire rest of the day. During my last six months in Vietnam, I flew 'Dawn Patrol' over the 25th Div AO. The purpose was to find any blown bridges, cratered roads, or other impediments to traffic created by the bad guys overnight. We'd take off before the sun came up. That daily hour or so will always be one of my life's highlights. Never did that, but I did get a ride on a F4 Phantom Christmas '68 over the Central Highlands at dawn. It was incredible - beautiful wouldn't be too strong a word to use. Hard to believe there was a war on. |
