That's called "open carry." Very few states allow that, typically states
out west, though I believe Virginia allows it.

Virginia allows concealed, with a permit. If I'm carrying a pistol into a
target range, or a gun shop, there's nothing illegal about it.

I'd like to meet someone who thinks open carry is a good idea, just to see
