I'm probably a bit prejudiced however since I grew up in a canal town in upstate NY listening to the tugs and barges lock through during the night, and stopping on the bridge on the way home from school to watch the boats. We've also done a fair amount of very enjoyable canal cruising both in NY and Canada over the last 7 years or so. You get a wholly different perspective on otherwise familiar landscape. I thought it was pretty intersting myself. It just struck me as odd in the middle of the trip. He's a pretty interesting guy. What's the over/under on Doug calling it quits and flying home leaving Kathy and Hank to bring the boat back? Not a chance in my opinion. He's been looking forward to this trip for a long time. Hopefully we'll get to meet them as they pass through SWFL on the return leg. I was going to zip over to New York and met with them, but time and other things got in the way. Wish I had the patience for that kind of trip. |
