Speaking of New Boats...
The wife has decided. The Triumph is out of the question now. She and I
both liked the Scout better. We'll be moving to NC in about a year and a half, and this looks to be easily towable to various lakes and the ocean. Any comments? http://tinyurl.com/27277t or http://www.scoutboats.com/models/185sportfish.html The transom isn't open, but I'm hoping it will be pretty safe anyway. -- John H |

Although you could have had my Ranger for less money. :) I like the Scout model line - nice lines and the interior layout is very well thought out. I would, though, take a look at Polar in this same model class. http://www.godfreymarine.com/Graphic...1900sunset.jpg The more I see them, the more I am impressed with the whole Polar concept. |

The last 20 footer I lofted out had a nice sweep like that..... Oh, and a motor well with the 18 inch bracket, 2 1/2 feet forward of the transom ;) |

I like the Polar boats, but the smallest CC is the 19'er, but it's bigger than I want. I want something that I can easily pop onto a trailer hitch and take off with. I *don't* want something requiring trailer brakes, which I'm afraid that extra weight may require. The Polar doesn't have the fancy seating of the Scout, and that was a must for the wife, who is thinking of grandkids visiting! -- John H |

I would not ask her to walk through the water to take a crap in the woods, nor would I ask her to take a **** in a bucket on the open deck of my boat. Different strokes I guess. Well, I beach the boat at times for picnics, exploring. Put the bow on the beach, and climb onto the sand / rocks. My boat has fairly tall sides. 35" from the chine. |

Not always possible or practical. I do not expect to tell folks on my boat.........tough luck, just crap in your pants. I thought you left coasters were the sensitve and caring type. I guess not. We seem to attract all the hard heads here. No surprise I guess when you consider who is upholding 'the law'! ( or in the current times.. not upholding) Is that why you are here? Most people take a crap before leaving the dock. And if you are inland boating, there are trees and bushes along the shoreline. I doubt if either Jim or Don or any of their family/acquaintances are so uncouth as to use a bucket, the water or a bush for such things. Some folks are quite pure of mind and body. -- John H One of those city Canucks. What about it? I spent 3 nights and two full sailing days on my Sandpiper 565 at the first of this month and was able to avoid using my MSD. Trick...limiting intake controls outflow. Plus we spend two nights at a municipal marina in Rousseau. the guy hosting the regatta had the key to the public wahhrooms/showers and the in-between night was at his cottage. Stragetic stops at a beach for a raftup afforded the opportunity to go ashore for 'refreshment'. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...aid2007035.jpg I bought one of these for the new, smaller Yo Ho: http://tinyurl.com/ysvztb It looks like a folding bucket. I hope you are not going to ask your wife to use that. |

Nothing for you to worry about, Jim. The death of my mom, and what Don has told us about his mom, do cause concern. Plus, it might deflect Don from his personal attacks, which are unnecessary. -- John H |

Herring is neither original nor clever. But he does suffer from Asperger's syndrome. Thanks, Harry. It's an honor to be mentioned in one of your posts! Whatever you say must be true! -- John H |

He'd probably be a pretty nice guy, if he's like most Canadians I've met. There was a Canadian Army Brigade in Germany that I worked with every now and then. Those guys were a blast. Of course, they weren't trying to keep HK impressed. -- John H |
