Gene, dunno if your email is working yet.

My trailer isn't shipping until Friday night and probably won't be in
until Sunday...so I won't be able to pick it up until Monday at noon.

So what have you been doing your boating in while you wait?

Harold has lots of ephemeral boats in which to do his boating. In one, he
even saw Puff the Magic Dragon.

It's a serious question. I know he has been out, just wondered if he
was hitching a ride, or had access to another boat.

Harry..
I'm sure you bought your trailer from a well known trusted manufacturer, but
check it out closly before handing over the remainder of the money.
I had a local small timer fabricate mine and on it's first road trip, the
suspension broke down. Now I find that the suspension is only rated for
2000 lbs gross, rather than the 2000lb carrying capacity I specified in
writing. (trailer weighs 617 lbs so axle & springs should be rated 2600 lbs
minimum.)
I'm now waiting to see what he's going to do about the problem.

Thanks. This will be the second trailer I bought from the dealer in
question. It is a name-brand trailer and I've talked to the factory in
Florida about it. The gross capacity of the trailer is 6200 pounds, and
the net, about 5000. That net gives me a reasonable safety factor. You
are absolutely right, though, in bringing this up.

Insist on a spare tire too. (If its not too late)

Boat dealers around here like to conveniently forget about that.

It's not usually part of the sale. It's an option.

When I shop for a trailer, one of the things I look for is a lug bolt
pattern the same as my tow vehicle. Not always possible but a trailer
that matches gets points.
