I'm curious to know why you didn't go for a C-MAP chart plotter on the new boat? |

I poked around for a few weeks with various chartplotters, including two C-MAP varieties, and concluded I liked the ergonomics, screen and features of the new Garmins mo' better. I almost went for a new large screen Standard Horizon, but in a "head to head" over at the electronics shop, I simply liked the Garmin set up better. Meanwhile, I have a nice C-Map NT+ setup to sell... |

Everyone seems to like Garmin's user interface but they have a terrible track record for obsoleting their own equipment and leaving users in the lurch. Furuno also has wonderful day light screen visibility. |

I also went with a fixed mount VHF, even though I thought I would not. Getting the fishfinder/depth sounder "free" freed up a few more dinero. |
