Jeesh! I had no idea renting a storage unit was so expensive!! Just
got done calling the closest 2 storage facilities (in proximity to our house) and the one is $100/month (5% discount 6 months paid in advance; 10% discount 12 months paid in advance), and the other is running a special of $85/month (normally $95) now thru the end of August, I believe she said. This is for a 10x25 garage-type indoor storage unit to store a 17' boat/trailer in. The one place also offers outdoor storage for $1.50/linear foot/month, with a minum of $35/ month. Which is great, but not the safest/most secure. We don't have a pole building or anything, and I don't really care to have a boat/ trailer parked outside my house year-round, so if DH ends up buying this boat he's looking at, we need to figure out where to put it. I haven't called the marina to ask them, but I'm sure it's probably more expensive than the storage units! |

That was the cheapest I found, unless I wanted to drive out the the sticks, where I could've paid $80-$90. |

While I have insurance, I constantly worry about it being vandalized despite the storage grounds being secured and supposedly having video surviellance, etc. Not sure what an indoor unit might cost...afraid to ask, but I'd gladly pay $100/month for a garage-type indoor unit. |

well I found a guy who rents space in his barn for the winter, at 10'/
foot for the entire winter season. So we'll probably do that at least from Oct-Apr/May. But during the fishing months I guess it'll have to be parked in the drive, or off to the side. |

A fisherman's marina near me charges $500 for "the season" for parking a boat on its trailerboat lot. Several hundred guys do this. The season runs from about April to the end of November, so the monthly rate is reasonable. The rate includes unlimited use of two good quality launch ramps. There's very little vandalism or theft at the place, because the place always has guys there launching their boats or going to their slips, and it is pretty easy to recognize who should be there and who should not be. |
