Default Kayak Tours and Rentals in Anchorage

Are there any such businesses there? I did a yellow pages on Anchorage, and
found the pickings slim to none. One guy mentioned a Chugach rental, but I
have no idea where it is. Maybe it's well outside Alaska.

Well, maybe I can get an Alaska Milepost magazine.

If you're looking for outfitters that run kayak tours in the general
vicinity of Anchorage, there are lots of them; their main offices, however,
are in other places (such as Whittier, Valdez, and even Vancouver). Just
do a web search for "kayak Prince William Sound," for instance.

If you're looking for rentals or tours in the town of Anchorage itself, you
may be right that there isn't much, if anything at all (at least according
to my quick search). That may be because most of the paddling is done in
the nearby areas.

I hope this helps.

Wayne, Not a direct answer to your question, but 10 years ago
when I was in Anchorage I was looking to rent a canoe and couldn't
find one. However, there were sea kayaks everywhere. Among
'everywhere' was the REI store, which I believe did have a rental
operation going. Tom McCloud
