I have a '62 merc 1000, and have had starter/ignition probs. I cleaned the starter up, and she spins strong. The problem is, its spinning the wrong way. The wiring is correctly hooked up, and I'm at a loss. Any ideas would be appreciated immensely!!!!!! hmmm, I didn't read your post right. 1962? That would probably be an old Delco or Prestolite starter with copper fields. If that be the case then you probably have the brush's a quarter turn off. that would reverse the polarity. |
