Hello,
I have a nephew with a Evinrude 28 hp outboard about '98 model which seems to have a lower unit problem??? It runs well at idle speed or trolling speed but when the throttle is raised the motor revs up but the boat does not speed up accordingly??? There is no grinding or otherwise bad sounding noise noticeable. He has checked the lower unit lube condition and it was fine. He also removed the prop but found nothing noticeably wrong. He has not misused the boat/motor. The prop is not even nicked. Any ideas as to what could be wrong inside this thing? Thanks for any help or info........ Steve |

Try a different prop and I'll bet things will be fine. Some prop shops can replace the hub, but on that small sized prop, a new one may be a better value. Bill Grannis service manager |
