Default OT Dishwasher recall

Anyone else here unlucky enough to be involved in that Maytag dishwasher
recall?
We received the kit and had it installed on May 14, but from that point on
the unit is dead as a doorknob.
Appears that the controlboard goes south after the old wiring harness is
removed and you have to wait for a new one to be manufactured & shipped from
who knows where. It's been 8 weeks now and the wife has collared me for dish
drying by hand for the last 6.
We're both getting fed up..and to make matters worse, you have to deal with
a call center who e-mail Maytag..who ignore the e-mails.
Sure do miss the good old days where that 'dog faced' repairman was just
hanging around looking for something to break so he'd have work to do.

We got tired of having our three year old GE dishwasher repaired. We got
tired of waiting for parts and tired of waiting for the repairdude. So,
last year, even though it was still under extended warranty, I ripped it
out and bought a DW Bosch private labels for Sears. I've been so pleased
with it I bought another just like it for my office kitchenette.

The GE was made in Mexico. We're beginning to see a backlash against
crap foreign products coming from there and from China. Too bad we got
rid of our ability to manufacture here.

Forgot about that. I just mailed my registration fee for our annual
Sandpiper 565 Rendezvous Aug 03/06 way up at Rousseau Lake in the Muskoka
Region Ontario.
My route will be about 1130 miles each way and at a sensible 90km towing
speed will have to leave on Aug 01 and should get home on Aug 08.

50 feet from the Pub wharf... mmmmmm wonder if they deliver Keith's draught
beer?

I purchased and installed a Bosch dishwasher a year or so ago, replacing the
builders *upgrade* GE model. I do not recall the model number but it was a
'recommended' unit by Consumers Report.

There was no comparison with noise........we can run our Bosch during the
day and no one can tell that it is running. The GE, even the upgrade model,
was quite noisy. Cleaning was comparible.

On the plus side for our GE unit.......it ran flawlessly for 13 or so years.

That's because your GE was of the vintage I remember, when they were
quality goods.

Harry, where was the DW BOSCH unit made?

I use a lot of Bosch (Robert bosch) automotive products and they are
made in Germany, Spain, S. Africa, Tiawan.

And I do understand that DW could be a totally seperate company as
well.

Anyhow, Bosch automotive. reasonably good quality, but they're
products are manufactured anywhere but here. and dissapointingly so.

When I was shopping for dishwashers, the local Home Despots and Lowes
had all brands stacked up on shelves in their boxes, ready to go. I
looked at the boxes. Most of the dishwashers, whatever their branding,
were made in Mexico, not the United States. The Bosch units I bought
were made in Germany.

That was the late Gordon Jump. They have some new guy now.

btw,

Never set the dishwasher and leave the house. We used to own a GE
Potscrubber. The thing caught fire but luckily was contained
inside the plastic enclosure. When I removed it, It was a wad
of melted plastic and wires. Im sure glad it didn't burn my house
down.

I have installed all Maytag appliances in the spec houses I've built in the
last few years. I really don't see a big difference in the quality compared
to the GE.

shrug

snip...

Nope... the original guy was a Jessie White (no relation)
Maytag dumped him to bring in Mr Carlson from WKRP in Cincinatti (Gordon
Jump)
