Default cleaning mike cord

Hi all,
Does anyone have any ideas for cleaning a blackened mike
cord? I tried good ol' soap and water, even a green kitchen scourer,
but it only removed a bit of the surface material. I know it can come
off, as I ran the edge of a box knife blade along the cord and it
scraped some of the material off, but I don't really want to sit there
for 3 - 4 hours trying to do the whole cord this way. Anyone know of
any kind of solvent than can do the job without eating the cord away?

Also, can anyone point me towards a decent source for aftermarket or
used parts for Sea Ray's? We just bought a 1995 230 Sundancer in nice
shape overall, but with a few minor cosmetic issues, one of which is a
port-window that is cracked and in need of replacement. I'll go direct
to Sea Ray if I have to, but I wanted to see if there are alternatives
available.

Thanks in advance
