Simple, it's a port visit without full embarkment. CO probably decided it was ok. Nothing wrong with that. If you had a slight clue as to hard a Sailor works, how little they are paid, and how long they're gone for, you'd understand why something like this is a huge deal. Probably the only time in their career this will happen. It will go far in motivating them to a deeper motivation in serving. John Relax...I grew up in a navy town and still live here. This is America. We must fight, or at least look for an argument, even if there is no enemy anywhere. We'll make one. I must admit I threw the bike issue in just to rev up a couple of the regulars in here. Looks like I'm getting more than my monies worth. It is good to see you admit that the only reason you come to rec.boats and make posts in rec.boats is to "rev up a couple of the regulars in here". Ok, stand up and say " I am Don, I am a newsgroup Troll". The first step is to admit your problem.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Sir Reggie, I really don't think Don is a troll, as of to speak. If he truely isa troll, then he's an extremely mild of a troll, compared to a couple others in here. Especially considering there is a self proclaimed, anonimous, "cement expert" , that pops in to rec.boats quite frequently seemingly to only spew forth wisdom on how everone else is dumb as a post". I know nothing about sail boating, and really don't have much desire to know about sail boating, but if I needed to ask about sailing, I'm sure Don would be equiped to answer my questions with accuracy and ligitimacy. The reality is, "Reggie" is one of the master trolls of this newsgroup. Perhaps you are not familiar with his record here, in which he posted with something like 50 different aliases, and like the others with nothing to contribute, came by (and still comes by) only to drop off fresh turds. |

In other words, he didn't agree with everything Harry said. Nor did he like Harry's constant name-calling. I keep waiting for Tom to drop in and say something to Harry about that. But, maybe some form of immunity exists for those who can't control themselves. |

You, Harry, Don, Dan, Dingle, Berry and all the rest just can't stop - it's in your blood - it will never end because nobody has the discipline to just let it go and get on with things. In a lot of ways, Chuck is right - the group has gone to hell in a hand basket. I've tried to keep things light, break up the little spit fests and shoe peeing contests with a little humor, fool around a little, but you and the usual suspects are like addicts - you have no wish to reform or even try. Unfortunate. |

I resent that. I've got most of the turds in my filter-out file, and probably comment on only one in 10 of the posts of those guys, and only after someone else has regurgitated one of their "bons mots." It's a giggle that Herring and Reggie complain about anything here, since both of them come here mostly to snipe at the posts of others. Keep track of their posts for a while, and you'll come to the same conclusion. |

Finally, it's about time someone set the record straight and exposed the real trolls and agitators. |

To show that I am a law abidin' peace loving man, I have a little 'good news story' re USS Wasp visit. Local paper reports that 20 crew members from the USS Wasp volunteered to do landscaping work on Dead Man's Island where about 160 American prisoners from the war of 1812 are buried. Last month a small contigent of Americam service men held a memorial there and I suspect it will now be a yearly function. Deadman's Island is just below the Armdale Yacht Club on Melville Island where the old military prison was located. http://marinas.com/view/marina/9055 |
