I'm interested in the Lombardini 57HP 2204M diesel for a wide beam
canal boat. This appears a small light high performance engine, reving out to 3600rpm at a good price for the power. This 2.2L engine revs 800rpm more than the similar size BETA 50HP - and has more usable torque up to 120 NM I would put a 3:1 reduction and a 20" Crowther prop, the idea being to have a large efficient prop turning slowly with the engine running in the most fuel efficient range. But plenty of instant stopping power at 1200 shaft rpm when you need it. Lombardini have just been taken over by Kohler of the USA. So how this might change things in the UK for distribution/service remains to be seen Would be very interested to have comments on Lombardini quality / after sales service. And any servicing problems encountered . Thanks in advance TJ |
