Default Lombardini marine diesels

I'd love to put in a 3 or 4 cylinder Gardner, a Russell Newbury, or
even a Beta JD 3 'tug' engine with 30HP @ 1400 RPM.

It will take Kohler a while to turn around Lombardini and their
reputation in the UK. First thing they can start with is motivate the
sales staff to at least return calls!!

I think I'd rather go for a Thornycroft T155 2.5l engine. max 67Hp @
3600 or 55@3000 continuous rating. This is £6,500. A lot cheaper than
£12,000 for a Beta JD3.

In any event, primary traction is to be from a 20KW 48V Lynch DC motor
off a 900AH 48V 1000Kg battery setup. So the diesel won't be doing
many hours at all.

I'll be dead before even the Thornycroft burns out. Never mind the
JD3.
Beside the planet may not be in the same shape we know it today
either!
