Default Rebuild leaking Volvo Penta SX Sea Water Pump?

Also try:http://www.go2marine.com/category.do?no=13677

Lots ofrebuildkits forVolvowater pumps. Don't know which one is for
your application, but it says you can even call them to ask. Dude, you've
got to learn to Google!

Nope, already looked at the pump rebuild kits, and called the Volvo
dealer who told me to buy a new pump. No kit for my pump which is
part # 3851623. Tore it all the way apart and got a number off the
seal. Spent 3 hours searching and finally found this metric seal.
Easy to get in UK and Australia. Only one place here in US (on web
anyway). Found it at Torresen Marine and the seal is from a generator
water pump. http://www.torresen.com/
Seal - Water Pump Jabsco 50340-001 16X28X7 2700-1027
The 16x28x7 is the metric sizes 16mm shaft diameter, 28mm bore
diameter (seal is slightly larger than that for sealing fit 28.2mm),
and 7mm width. Had to make sure it was water sealing capable, not
just oil seal. There was a small groove on the shaft where the old
seal rode that I buffed out so the shaft should not tear up the new
seal. The seal cost less than $7, so I ordered 2, shipped for
$20.69. Hope it goes back together OK. I plan to freeze the saft and
heat the pulley before pressing back together. Very tight fit. Had
to use a pulley puller to get it off. Wrote this detailed description
so the next guy who runs across this problem can Google and go.
Really sucks that Volvo doesn't support their products any better than
that.

So the seal is for a Jabsco water pump?-

Yes but everything is on hold. Torrenson Marine called and there is
a problem with sending me the seal. I may have to order from UK.
I'll call them back this morning to see what the deal is.

The Torrenson Marine seals fell through. There was some kind of large
minimum order issue. I ordered one from a local pump repair place.
Got my fingers crossed. And I couldn't find one on the Jabsco site
either.

OK, picked up the seal today. Looks perfect. It's ISP (International
Seal & Packing Co) www.intsealpack.com 1-800-651-2551

Part # R01220 Description: 16x28x7A NBR SEAL

You may not be able to order direct. I ordered thru a local pump
repair place. Just over $12 shipped. Seal was just over $4.

Will let everyone know how the pump goes back together.

Final post (I hope). I could not hammer the pulley onto the shaft,
even though I froze the pump for days and heated the pulley to 250
degrees. It would not go on. So I had to have it pressed on at a
boat repair place. They did it for free. Also needed a good puller
to take it off. Some folks may want to just find the seal and let the
mechanic do it. Pump is back together and ready to install.
