If the Force runs well, you got a good price on a outboard with a boat
thrown in. I'd do as another suggested and not sink a ton of money into
it, and use it as is, maybe overlay and screw down a piece of plywood over
the spongy area. Good luck, have fun, be safe.....ps there are numerous
online articles on floor replacement - no links for you though- google
away.

Hi All!
I'm excited. We just agreed to buy a bayliner 1995 bayliner 1600
Capri LS. It's 16ft long, comes with a trailer, motor (force 70) and
actually works! Got it for a song, so I figure it's a good way to get
into boating and to learn. there are 2 problems with the hull. The
Gel coating was damaged in 2 small areas. And the floor boards are
"spongy" in an area. How hard is this stuff to fix? The previous
owner has been using a piece of plywood to lay over the floor. But
it's not rotted through, just soft. Hard/necessary to replace the
flooring? How about the gelcoating? Hrd to repair? The owner said I
could just do a fiberglass patch over it, but I'd like to hear how to
do it right.

Thanks for any help!
Brian\

BTW, got it for $1250.00

If you end up cutting out the floor, make mearsurements of the width of the
boat at several places and make a couple of braces to keep the sides from
moving outward. The floor acts as joists to keep the sides in alignment
also.
