Look at the bright side. I used to visit my father's family in Cambria county PA, and the West Branch as it flowed through Barnesboro was a hideous shade of yellow from sulfur from the coal mines. Glad to hear that the waters have improved to the point that it can support trout, or are you upstream from that point? I'm down in Clearfield. The section from the bridge in Hyde to where the river meets Moose Creek is now an approved trout water and is stocked by the Fish Commission. It's nice to have this running right through the middle of town. The river also supports a healthy smallmouth bass population. Sandy Lick creek in nearby DuBois was orange colored when I was growing up and just this year 1.3 miles have been stocked and designated "Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only" so progress is definately being made. |
