Good point Jim...up here, if you want to donate to cancer research, the
Terry Fox 'Marathon of Hope' is the place to go.
This guy , a national hero, ran half way across Canada on one leg and only
stopped when the cancer returned and claimed his life.
Another advantage , if donating anything sizeable, is a return of approx 24%
of your donation on your next income tax return.
John's is a good cause... but if we needed to be subjected to an annual arm
twisting, we could all go watch PBS.

As I stated earlier, the best way to avoid entanglements with Herring is
to avoid anything to do with him.

Yes, John's is a good cause but he should not be using a boating NG to ask
for contributions from members here. It is also in poor taste to then
display the names of contributors and the amount of their donations for all
to see. What one decides to donate should not be public information. No
class.

Don, I'm not really sure of the context on what you mean, but
concerning "arm twisting"

I've never seen any "arm twisting" or "mafioso" tacticc used
concerning donating to charitable and other worthy organizations.

At least not in the USA.

Sorry about the Canadians killed in Afghanistan yesterday.

Here also charitable contributions are deductible.

Sorry you underwent such stress.

I displayed nothing. Did you see your donation publicly displayed? Perhaps
you should contact the foundation and complain.
