Leaf peeping is highly over rated.

However, if you do get up this way, call me - I know a great place in
Mystic for dinner.

I agree.......been there..........done it........can see the same thing in
my backyard.

The problem is that Mrs. H has not and wants it. The boss rules. ;-)

So what do you recommend in Mystic.

I'd certainly go to the Mystic Seaport.

Absolutely.

The best way of course is to go there by boat and dock for the night.
Dockage is reasonable if you also get a membership, and you have the
run of the grounds at night after the tourists leave. It's like a
time warp.

Are you driving from NYC to Boston? If not, don't fly. Take the railroad
along the Connecticut-Rhode Island shore route. Also, in Maine, you'd
surely like Kennebunkport, about 50 miles south of Freeport. There's a
wonderful B&B there called the Maine Stay: http://www.mainestayinn.com/

Short walk to the waterfront and lots of interesting stuff. The Bush
compound is there, along with Mabel's, the lobster house the Bush's
frequent.

snip..

Kennebunkport is where the Seashore trolley museum is located.
