![]() "Frogwatch" wrote in message ps.com... Used to keep my sailboat at out-of-the-way places with no other boats and no facilities at all. However, for the past two years I have kept her at the local yacht club with a clubhouse, a nice dock, water, power (still dont use power), ice, etc. Recently, I was offered a dock at half the price of my current slip and considered it for awhile and then turned it down. Basically, I like having these niceties and I like occasionally seeing other boaters around to commiserate with. Following the bad examples of the other boaters around me, I am actually going to pay a diver to clean my boats bottom instead of doing it myself. Am not sure if this is the result of old age or just general wimpiness but still havent succumbed to using shore power. Hey, if you're going to be a marina maggot you might as well go the whole route. That means plugging in cable TV, Internet, 120VAC, telephone and water hose. Be sure to install a water heater, shower, microwave oven, flat panel TV, refrigerator/freezer, washer/drier, fresh water deck washdown pump, etc. etc. etc. Be the best wimp you can be. . .. A boat isn't supposed to represent a lifestyle. It's supposed to represent a diversion from a lifestyle. Stupid prick! Wilbur Hubbard |

Eisboch Heh, that explains a lot... :-) Don't know "Capt Neil", but after many hours of googling this group, you learn that many people hide behind fictitious names, often changing them. Time is compressed too, giving another perspective. There are feuds here that go back many years, and I've seen them develop and sometimes fade away. As a newcomer, I'm a bit careful not to sound too familiar with others here, even though I feel I've known some for years. But there are plenty of stalwarts here who don't hide who they are, and they keep the group from turning into one honking flamefest. Not to say some of the flamefests aren't entertaining as hell (-: --Vic |

Today, all it amounts to is "your an asshole" and then an equally creative response "I know you are, but what am I". Many years ago two regulars did a parody of Harry and Skipper, except instead of discussing Bayliners, they discussed Rule Bilge Pumps vs Attwood Bilge Pumps. They had the two of them done pat, and it was very entertaining. Trust me if you read the exact same "asshole insults" for a few years, they do get old, and have NO entertainment value. Try reading some of Bassy's insults and tirades and imagine 20 or 30 more people making 50-200 posts per day, just as creative as his. |

I suggest giving it a try and then returning for a polite little chat about your requirements. |
