The news ticker tape just said that Bay Area (San Francisco) gas prices are expected to increase by 40 cents per gallon over the next two weeks! What's the explanation for that? Anyone know some facts? Nope. Except for boating we rarely have to *pay* for gasoline. My car is a company car so I don't have to pay for gasoline. We get points every time we use our BP Visa and use them to purchase gift cards for use at BP stations. We normally reach $50 in reward $'s every 2 months. We gave a $25 card to my son yesterday and are mailing another $25 card to my daughter. Our grocery store (Giant Eagle) has a "fuel perks" program (http://tinyurl.com/yukz5u) with $0.10 earned for every $50 spent and redeemable at their gasoline pumps. We redeem the $ once it reaches the pump price and bring along a couple of 5-6 gallon cans to use up the entire 30 gallon limit. . Life is good. ;-) That's a great idea for a Visa reward....gas. Trouble is...BP's are hard to find around my parts. Do you know if other companies, like Chevron, does the same thing? -Greg Sorry but no I don't. |

No, but from what I've seen in my years of driving US and Canadian highways, all the old geezers who buy one from a salesman who says" Oh, no, its just like driving a car" should have thier heads read. |

Heh - probably. I have a CDL and drive trucks bigger and heavier than the bus occasionally so that's not a problem. |

Close. 80,000 lb gross, 40 foot trailer behind a fifth wheel FMC ladder truck worth a cool half million. :) |

As a test, they put you up in the snorkel at full height (85 ft or so), and simulated the nozzle being fired by dropping your height, and moving it (bucket) backward. It was just like my early days at the fair, riding the wild rides of my youth. |

They have several 10 story dormitories and the FD was concerned about response from the neighboring town - not to mention that their ladder was two stories shy of the top floor and roof. We looked at several ladders and couldn't decide on what was really necessary as we had need for both. Somebody got the bright idea to have one custom made and that's what happened - it's a ladder with a separate snorkel boom. The school gave us a very handsome donation to expedite the build cycle. It was great the first time we took it to a neighboring town and hit the fire on the top floor through the roof from the ladder and did neighboring home exposure protection across the street from the snorkel. It was quite the sight. :) |
