No, but from what I've seen in my years of driving US and Canadian
highways, all the old geezers who buy one from a salesman who says"
Oh, no, its just like driving a car" should have thier heads read.
Heh - probably.
I have a CDL and drive trucks bigger and heavier than the bus
occasionally so that's not a problem.- Hide quoted text -

If you gross over 100,000 llbs, and carry a quarter of a million in
inventory on the truck....then you're in my neighborhood.
Close. 80,000 lb gross, 40 foot trailer behind a fifth wheel FMC ladder
truck worth a cool half million. :)
Years ago, I went for the Fire Department in my city. Made it to the
last 5 out of 300. As a test, they put you up in the snorkel at full
height (85 ft or so), and simulated the nozzle being fired by dropping
your height, and moving it (bucket) backward. It was just like my
early days at the fair, riding the wild rides of my youth.
LOL!! Yep.
This is quite the truck. We had a need for a ladder/snorkel when the
Hyde School moved into town. They have several 10 story dormitories and
the FD was concerned about response from the neighboring town - not to
mention that their ladder was two stories shy of the top floor and roof.
We looked at several ladders and couldn't decide on what was really
necessary as we had need for both. Somebody got the bright idea to have
one custom made and that's what happened - it's a ladder with a separate
snorkel boom. The school gave us a very handsome donation to expedite
the build cycle. It was great the first time we took it to a neighboring
town and hit the fire on the top floor through the roof from the ladder
and did neighboring home exposure protection across the street from the
snorkel. It was quite the sight. :)
