Restaurants serving "other" labeled as grouper:http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=7388745 At time of post, the page says full story (audio) will be available at 7:30 PM Eastern time. A long time practice. Less desirable species are often given a more appetizing name, but it seems unusual to use the name that specifically applies to another species of fish. Dogfish sharks are often sold as "rock salmon" or "flake", (commonly used for fish and chips in Britain). Obviously a dogfish shark is not any member of the salmon family. Sablefish are often marketed as "black cod," (but a sablefish is not a member of the cod family). |
