Evidently, you're thinking of a 6-71 "blower". and you never heard of Paxton superchargers, which you can run duals. But no, you probably never heard of that let alone thought of it. Oh, and 800 HP....LMAO!!!!.....you guys believe EVERYTHING you read? 800 streetable hp in 1966 was pretty good. and it didn't have to be "perfect dyno conditions. A lot of the 426 hemi's were pumping out over 600 hp fromt he factory, and had to be rated at 425 hp so they could qualify under federal regulations for licensed production. Federal law said no street licensing at that time could be over 450 hp , so chrysler parked it at a neat 425. of course they never said what RPM that rating was (idle?) Most of these HP claims you read in mags are under perfect conditions on a dyno....wouldnt be the same on the street. Everyone thinks these quotes are gospel. They arent. OK, then whats the truth? you should know.... The problem with the Ford 427 side-oilers was their unusual cam and timing chain set up. Er...maybe. Connie Kalitta campaigned one in the Bounty Hunter F/E Dragster, but gave up on it.The rail is on loan in Big Daddys Museum in Ocala Fla. S. ok |
