No, John. I wouldn't say that Harry is the resident name-caller.

That one who I think should hold that title, hasn't posted here today.

It could easily be a shared title.

Methinks John and his clique are upset because they are stashed in my
bozo bin with one can of Right Guard.

Harry, the number of folks who believe you have a kill file is about the
same as that who believe in your lobsta boat!

vests.

the aux doesn't have authority to board a vessel. even the CG can't
board a vessel unless there is a 'boarding officer'...someone trained
in the use of force...aboard the CG vessel. of course, since the CG is
also military, it CAN board a vessel under 'rules of engagement', but
that's a military issue, not a law enforcement one.

The CG is a uniformed service, they do not serve subject to the UCMJ.

they sure do. even in peacetime, the USCG, a branch of the military, is
subject to the UCMJ.

if they board your vessel under the rules of engagement you better do
pretty much what they say.

The CG is a law enforcement agency.

and a branch of the military.

The USCG follows under the Dept. of the Treasury, doesn't it?

The department of Homeland Security.
The Aux also carries a "homeland" card. My ex says they are actually
doing some real patrols in the DC area. They are jsut looking for
suspicious activities when there are events planned but they can radio
for a real unit.

this is true. our responsibilities are more like 'pickett' duties...we
receive training in what to look for in our AOR that is out of the
ordinary or suspicious. if we see something strange we pass it to the
gold side.

I'm sure these USCGA and USPS guys do some good, but I've never seen
them doing it, and I've been boating for 50+ years.

well, harry, i guess you weren't in NY harbor after 9/11.

because we were.

Just so you know, whatever my banter with Harry and others, I thank
you for your service. And I'm looking forward to getting some good
education and advice from you guys when I get my boat.

thanks very much....appreciate it...and good luck with the boat!
