I'm looking at a boat that was last registered in 1988 with the dmv. does you know how much penalty it will be? would I have to backpay all 19 years' fees plus penalty or just one sum? any info is appreciated. thx Why would you have to pay any fee at all other than that required to register the boat? If the registration was dropped, it was dropped - doesn't make any sense that you have to pay back registration for years that it wasn't used. It is California. You either have to keep the registration valid or pay a $5 certificate of non operation for cars on your property. As to the boat, I would see if you could register it with just a bill of sale, and not the pink slip. After 19 years, it is not in the DMV data base anymore. Or ask the DMV office. |
