Default Crossing the US into Canada, via the Great Lakes.

A couple friends of mine were talking, and wondering what you would

I don't know, myself, but I do know there are some here that ahve
propaply done so. Do you have to go though customs like in the
highways? and is your cruising and/or sailing directed , or restricted
only though certain ports?

Waht IS the process?

Just curious.

Thanks!

I don't know if the information in these links is up to date:

US to Canada: http://www.cruising.ca/docs/forigen.html

Canada to US: http://boating.ncf.ca/usborder.html

Pre 9-11 we would regularly boat from the US to Canada, including
Lemington. Upon arrival into Canada we would check in to Customs via
phone at the marina. We would also apply for an I-68 prior to the
trip.

I did not read the new regulations but I would guess they are more
restrictive.
