Default Carver Boat Identification?

Would anyone be able to assist me with identifying the model of this
1979 Carver boat?
All I know is that it is a 1979 with a single inboard mercruiser.

Thanks!
Jason.

I have a *very* similar photo of a 1980 Carver 26' Monterey.

My guess is that the boat in your photo is smaller than 26-feet. It
doesn't look that large, and the cabin window on the boat in your photo
is proportionately smaller than the one on the 26. (one of my personal
cheats for guesstimating boat sizes).

My source "The Powerboat Guide" doesn't list the smallest boats built
by each mfgr, but your photo boat is closely related to a Monterey.

There was also a 26 Montego, but that wasn't introduced until 1985 and
the lines are slightly different. The forward section of the Montego is
higher to provide more cabin headroom. The Monterey had (skinny) side
decks, but the Montego had none.

The Montego was offered in larger sizes as the years went by, so there
is no reason to preclude the possibility that the 1980 26' Monterey
might have been a larger version of an earlier and slightly smaller
Monterey.

Interesting - I was leaning towards the Monterey as well but became a
little thrown off by what you described with the cabin window size. In
communication with Carver they were even unable to assist me - however
I dont feel that they were interested in the waste of time a public
inquiry might cause....So the search continues!

Thanks again for your input,
Jason.

Do you know the LOA of the boat in the photo?

I'm guessing 22-24 feet, and would be surprised if it were a 26-footer.

My reference to cabin window size: in the photo of the 26 the cabin
window is a bit longer in proportion to the superstructure. Longer
boats typically have a greater number of windows, or larger versions of
an equal number of windows.

The boat is listed as being 24' long on the for sale sign, Oddly I came
across a small article referring to the 1980 model of Carver called the
"Offshore" which is 23' long and look very similar.

I do agree with your idea about the number & size of windows,
especially with the Carver line it is very apparent.

Thanks!
Jason.

Default Figured this one out....

Just confirmed today - It's a limited edition 1979 24' Carver Montego
sports hull. Apparently the serial number shows that I have hull # 122
out of 150 for that model year.

Glad to get this one resolved!!
Cheers!
