I haven't made it myself yet, but everything I've read says be sure to be
underway by 0700 going and coming., as once the Sun warms things up it can be pretty choppy. Also, check the weather - not just locally, but for storms a few days away, as they can churn up the ocean several days before there's any talk about coming storms on radio and TV.
