Default What size Trim Tabs for 23' runabout?

Thanks -- space is not really an issue; so I'll check out the sports models; but
tehy seemed more expensive for no extra gain...

work great. I'd go with those m120's for a boat your size unless you have
limited space on the transom. The m80s or tournament tabs only need 8" on
each side. The 120s need 10". Forget the non-powered ones, you need to be
able to move them as needed. In rough water you can put them down a little
even at higher speeds. And I leave them all the way down for wakeboarding.

What size trim tabs should I go with?

Has anyone tried/reviewed/know of anyone with "Smart Tabs"?

Thanks

Space may appear to be a consideration when your tie downs cross the transom
where the trim tabs will be mounted. SmartTabs suggested I just cross the
straps from the transom tie down on one side to the trailer tie down on the
other.

Default What size Trim Tabs for 23' runabout?

The rule of thumb is to have at least one inch of trim tab span (per
side) for every foot of boat length. (Examples: 22 foot boat = no less
than 24" x 9", 36 foot boat = no less than 36" x 9"). The 9" chord
(fore to aft measurement) should be suffient unless you are limited in
space and have to go smaller than a 24x9 unit, in which case you would
need to go with 18x12 trim tabs. For trim tab sizing specs go to
http://wildblueboating.com/trim_tab_selector_page.html

Trim tabs on my boat were directly in line with the tie downs. By crossing
the straps tp the other side, instead of just going straight down, they
clear the tabs.

Everyone seems to lean towards Bennett tabs -- what about "instatrim" ? they are
about 1/2 the cost.

Is the added cost of the "sport" version worth it over just regular tabs?

Thanks

(sorry for so many Q's -- 1st time buying trim tabs)

I've never heard of "instatrim", but Bennett has earned customer loyalty
because of their excellent service and response when needed (which is
rare). My first old boat ... an '82 ... had a bad Bennett cylinder on one
of the tabs that I discovered two days before the boat was being picked up
for launching. It was over 10 years old. Bennett sent me a new one free,
overnight, so that I would not miss my launch appointment.

I've never heard of Instatrim but Bennett has been around a long time
and has a well deserved reputation for excellent customer service and
standing behind their product.

There are several reputable makers of trim-tabs, but Bennett's rep for
customer service seems the best.

The current list of worthless posters, boatless posters, netcops,
right-wing droolers, and general a**holes who reside in my bozo bin
includes gould, alotta fagina, montgomery_scott, wally, herring,
charles, dankrueger, elvis, fritz, robbins. There's room for more. If
you're on this list, I have the distinct pleasure of not seeing your

What an honor! I guess a person is looking for high praise when they post
their killfile. Harry, you are *so* neat!
