wrote: Went boating yesterday, out in Page County, Virginia. Likely the last bit of boating for me until we're in Florida in February. Cold as the dickens in the morning, only about 34F air temp when we got to the river at 8:30am. Naturally, I got my feet wet when we launched. Day warmed up to the high 40s', low 50s' for a while. We paddled around for a few hours, then went back to the cabin, lit up the stove and thawed out. It was too cold to even play at fishing. Spent the afternoon shooting up a tree stump and launching empty drink cans into low earth orbit with .22LR and .40S&Ws handguns and 12 and 20 gauge shotguns. I am never going to get used to 3-1/2 magnum loads. Sounds like a fun time! I played at golf again, out at the Prince William County course. Shot a 50 on the front nine, which was good (for me), but then turned around and shot 64 on the back nine. I was not a happy camper during that last nine holes. The last hole has a shot over a lake, which is where I almost threw my clubs - all of them. There was a chilly wind in the morning, but by the afternoon the temp was up, the wind was down, and the day was quite comfortable. -- John H *Have a great Christmas and a spectacular New Year!* |
