Heart warming seasonal e-mail;
Just came in this evening. Our regional cruise for the developmentally
disadvantaged is really getting a lot of community support. This is one of the highlights of the entire season, AFAIAC, and somthing similar would be worthy of consideration in communities without a similar program and where weather permits: ********* To: Participants in Special People's Christmas Cruise Flash - Here's the latest news: We have been notified by SEAFAIR that QCYC will have the Mercer Island High School Choir under the direction of Mr. Tom Cox singiing for our Special People's Cruise. Tom Youngs is contacting Mr. Cox to determine how many are in the choir and how we may best accommodate them at the clubhouse. We are also having the SEAFAIR clowns (12 to 14 clowns) join us to provide entertainment for the Special People waiting in front of the clubhouse and on the boats. A few representatives from Union 76 (the sponsor of the Holiday Cruise) want to come out and see the event first hand and how it effects the community. They will be visiting SYC and QCYC sometime during the event, accompanied by SEAFAIR Sponsorship Director Joan Ogle. Finally, QCYC is offering 31 of our yachts to host 223 Special People and Chaperones who will arrive in our parking lot in 5 busses Sunday afternoon. The QCYC Special People's Cruise has really taken on legs. Congratulations to all participants. ************* The closer the event gets, the more jazzed I get about participating. It can be hard to really decide who has the most fun at this thing, the boaters or our special guests. :-) |

Did you correct the sender re using the term 'Christmas' in the cruise title? I'm wondering if you're going to respond to them with a thousand words on the 'real' meaning of Christmas a la Chuck Gould. I just couldn't resist, Chuck. :) |

To me, Christmas is a time of sharing and togetherness. Sounds like you're doing both. Wish I could have my boat up there! |
