Just bought a dry top.
Nice piece of work. I like it. But I'm wondering about the seals, each of which is stamped "November 2004". Being 2 years old already, are these things on their last legs right out of the box? -- PeteCresswell |

Should be OK Pete. I'm sure you already know of the 303 stuff. If you do not
see any signs of dry rot ( tiny cracks appear when you stretch it ), I would not worry much. I kept gaskets going for 5+years by applying it at regular intervals. I kept gaskets going for 5+years by applying it at regular intervals. Thanks. Yeah - I slather my dry suit seals with the stuff after every use. Something that I've learned, though: beware of 303's large spray bottle. It's brittle to the point of being ridiculous. Drop it and you've lost the contents and have a mess to clean up. Been there.... *twice* already....!!! Slow learner, I guess.... -) Now, whenever I buy the stuff, I decant it into a more durable container and fill a little spritz bottle with some as needed. -- PeteCresswell |
