Great responses, Guys.
I'm really appreciating this. JohnH wrote: On Tue, 14 Nov 2006 16:55:29 GMT, Short Wave Sportfishing wrote: On 14 Nov 2006 08:24:05 -0800, wrote: I know, "what's the best" is a loaded term. The gell coat on the boat is "ok" not powdery but is really dull, and could use a good cleaning and waxing. To do a good job, what kind of boat wax would y'all recomend? Automotive? or is there a "special" wax that one should use? And for best results, can anyone tell me how to do a good prep job or lead me to a site, that will show me how to make the waxing work well? I have had great success using a 3M product called Finesse-It II and 3M Heavy Duty compound. Go over it with the 3M HD followed by the Finese-It II. Use an air powered DA sander with a polishing pad - that was one lesson I learned early when using this stuff - electric powered polishers don't seem to cut it for some reason. After that, 3M Fiberglas Restorer and Wax and the result will be amazing. What Tom said! |
