Boat wax whats the best?

I know, "what's the best" is a loaded term. The gell coat on the boat
is "ok" not powdery but is really dull, and could use a good cleaning
and waxing.

To do a good job, what kind of boat wax would y'all recomend?
Automotive? or is there a "special" wax that one should use?

And for best results, can anyone tell me how to do a good prep job or
lead me to a site, that will show me how to make the waxing work well?

thanks!

Start with an application of 3M Finesse It II finishing polish (using a
random orbit buffer) followed by a good coat of Collinite Fleet Paste Wax.
It will look like new again.

I have had great success using a 3M product called Finesse-It II and
3M Heavy Duty compound. Go over it with the 3M HD followed by the
Finese-It II. Use an air powered DA sander with a polishing pad -
that was one lesson I learned early when using this stuff - electric
powered polishers don't seem to cut it for some reason.

After that, 3M Fiberglas Restorer and Wax and the result will be
amazing.

Have you ever tried the Porter Cable 7424 random orbit polisher? This baby
works great on cars and boats. Just make sure to select the correct foam
pad.

Maybe a stupid question, but how do you guys best wax the hull when the
boat's on a trailer? I need to wax mine soon.

Yeah -I have one.

Didn't work as well at my air powered one though.

What kind of air tool do you use and what are the psi/cfm
requirements?

I use a Snap-On DA sander with the adaptor kit for 8" pad. It was a

You had to ask about air supply didn't you? Now I have to go out to
the garage. Be right back.

Air requirements are 90 Psi @ 5/6 CFM.

Thanks.

I wax my boat with Zymol, heck I wax everything with this stuff. It is
hard and last a long time. Just do a small area at a time and don't let
it dry on to long.

If you think a cleaner war is needed I have always had good results with
3m products. But I would go over it again with Zymol after I am done.

Collinite fleetwax paste consistently tests best in Powerboat Reports
independent tests. I've been using it for years and it lasts a long
time. I also use it on my car.
