independent tests. I've been using it for years and it lasts a long
time. I also use it on my car.


The regular Collinite marine wax is their product # 925 and is labeled
"Fiberglass boat wax".

They also have a product # 870 which is labeled as a "cleaner wax for
marine, rv and aeronautical finishes".

I tried both on different sections of the boat cockpit a while back to see
which was better.
The # 870 produced a much brighter shine, is easier to apply and the shine
lasts longer.

Better than the regular 3M cleaner wax, which I've also tried .... in fact,
much better. IIRC, it was also a bit pricey compared to the regular
Collinite marine wax, but worth it. I need to find some more as I have just
about used up what I have.

I've never done the whole 3M multi-step process because the Navigator has
not oxidized much.
I've had it waxed at least once a year ... twice a year while it was in
Florida ... since it was new.

I might have to do something different on the Scout. It's been sitting for
three years and was only waxed once. I don't think it's oxidized, but it
sure is dirty.

I'll second that. I tried the 3M stuff once, was sorely disappointed
after using the Collinite product. I've only used the hard paste wax
version, never the cleaner/wax stuff so I can't comment on it.

Start with an application of 3M Finesse It II finishing polish (using a
random orbit buffer) followe-d by a good coat of Collinite Fleet Paste
Wax. It will look like new again.


Once the boat is polished and waxed I maintain the finish mid-season using
this past wax:

It is easy to apply and remove and gives a great shine. As I am now docked
I apply this wax (after washing the boat) when we anchor at our swimming
spot sometime in July (mid season). Between the preseason polish with
Finesse-It II and wax with Collinite Fleet Paste Wax followed by the mid
season Meguires Flagship liquid wax I have always been able to maintain the
gelcoat to like new condition.

The Meguires Flagship liquid wax has been rated only behind Collinite Fleet
*Paste* wax in the surveys I have read and I have had nothing but great
results with both.

Side note: Congratulations on the new boat. It looks like you got a great
deal on it!

This one is well worth getting a bimini or convertable top! It's got
all the bracketing and a place right across the stern for one. I'm
going to search pictures for what I want, but I'll ahve one installed
before next spring! ?:
