I like the liability bit. It should be mandatory like it is for autos in
many states. Your yearly launch fee is great. My local lake is $120 for the year. Still better than the per/launch fee the amount I use it. ;-) --Mike wrote in message ups.com... Thank you John, That's much appreciated. There is a local lake here that the local municipality enjoys a $35.00 permit to use their lake. which isn't bad. PLUS you have to show proof that your boat carries a $100,000. liability policy. which isn't bad either. I don't thinkt he State is gong to do much about that, though. And my favorite lake (Carlyle IL) has $3.00 launch fees per launchor a $30.00 per year permit with unlimited access, and the fees are controled by the Army Corps of Engineers. I dont' have a problem with that, either. But I wouldn't be suprised if the State wouldn't figure a way to get their hand in the till. I'm suprised they haven't done it already. John Wentworth wrote: This reminds me of a story I read in today's newspaper; the towns in my state are accusing the state government of attempting to steal boat registration fees from the town. Towns that are on our major lakes have grown accustomed to serious revenues from boat registrations, but now the state is making a move to capture that revenue. The towns don't provide many services to boaters, but they do seem to enjoy the fees. Actually, nothing in this thread reminded me of anything related to boating, but I didn't have an opinion on the spelling ability of the previous posters so I thought I'd add a comment that was somewhat boating related. |
