Jim Webb has been declared the apparent winner of the Virginia U.S. Senate race over incumbent George Allen. I didn't realize that the press are the certifying officials. This is an astonishing victory for Webb, who while bright and with a good resume, is about as exciting as watching paint dry. The consensus seems to be that though Webb ran a strong campaign, Allen did himself in, beginning with his famous "Macaca" statements. Wait until he grabs a kid, flips him over, and puts the child's penis in his mouth. He will then become an more interesting and compelling than a blade of grass growing. If the Virginia board of elections declares Webb the winner, the Democrats will control the House, the Senate, and the majority of state governors' mansions, a trifecta. Now that you are in power, what are you going to do with it? And, will you be subjected to the scorn of the voters in two years because you haven't done anything or are you going to blame it on the Repbulicans? Bush will no longer be able to nominate and see confirmed right-wing extremist judges, a good thing. And hopefully Congress will no longer waste its time and our money on adult privacy issues. Bush's "right-wing extremists judges" are better than Shumer's "moderate judges." |

Bush's "right-wing extremists judges" are better than Shumer's "moderate judges." I had to look this up to see the reference Bert made: A shirtless man walked toward them along a mud pathway. His muscles were young and hard, but his face was devastated with wrinkles. His eyes were so red they appeared burned by fire. A naked boy ran happily toward him from the little plot of dirt. The man grabbed his young son in his arms, turned him upside down, and put the boy's penis in his mouth." It shows how ****ed off the voters were with the Republicans in general |

There will be a knock on your door, and you'll be transported to a gulag in the deep south, where you'll be re-educated for your new job in San Francisco, working as a towel boy in a gay bath house. You know...from each, according to his ability. Enjoy the next six months because that is all the honeymoon you will get. |

The South still belongs to the conservative Republicans. Funny you should say that, because most of the South has long term deep rooted Democratic Party control over all local gov't, commissions, sheriffs, etc etc. However, when it comes to national politics, the Republicans get the majority of seats (except for native sons like Carter, Clinton, etc). Funny thing, we are just now seeing the waning of the old Dixiecrats who turned Republican; I think there is a trend towards Democratic voting. I voted in a Southern precinct and there were exactly four Republicans on a 2 page ballot... of course, much of it was non-partisan stuff like judges & utility commissioners... but there were more Democrats running unopposed than Republicans. Just thought you should know the facts DSK |

DSK,
Depends upon where you are in the South. In my Alabama county the only unopposed candidates werre Republicans. AFAIK in this county no Democrat won an election. If you'd care to check the county is Baldwin. Butch "DSK" wrote in message .. . NOYB wrote: The South still belongs to the conservative Republicans.
