Default Weather today.

Went down to Los Angeles Friday to finish the daughters kitchen remodel.
Very nice weekend. Walked on the beach before leaving and lots of pelicans
diving on bait fish and 3 dolphins just outside the breakers and eating some
fish at times, rest of the time, just cruising along. Very kewl. Was 98 as
we drove by Lake Castaic.

Pineapple Express is still raging in WA. All that nice warm air from HI
brings temperatures that make it seem like April, but as the air cools
the water wrings out and we're experiencing extreme flooding along the
rivers. Some are calling this the "hundred year flood", but we seem to
hear that every 4-5 years. :-)

Suicide on the Pineapple Express: Some guy went out to check his crab
pots in what the USCG described as a "16-foot skiff". He must have
really been hungry from crab. The day he died we were experiencing
gusts of up to 60 mph. I'm still trying to find out whether the
recovery was the stereotypical classic: Body found about a mile away
from a boat washed up on the beach, and a PFD stowed neatly under the
thwart.

That's because 100 year floods occur in 4 to 5 year cycles.

Sheesh - how hard is that to understand? :)

You're a video fan. Here's a link to the USCG press video site. This is
a source that broadcast media, etc, can turn to for short shots of the
USCG in action.
Check out the "Bogachiel River Rescue" footage. And don't ever let
anybody tell you it rains a lot in the Pacific NW.

It's in the 50's here in N. Illinois. I've had all windows open all
day, all ceiling fans on high speed, and the furnace fan running.
Glad it's warm here.
2 of my 3 house dogs were skunked this morning.
