No. Local lettuce here is usually of such small quantity that families (on farms) pick it themselves. However, I *have* watched squash, strawberries, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and other "ground crops" being harvested. Tough work. They ride a machine and cut the head off and toss it on a conveyer belt up to a processing stand. Time spent per head is minimal. |
