Nope. They can and do jump from time to time. I've seen it in the
Gulf more than once.

I've always subscribed to the "diver giving the ray a goose" theory
myself. :)

I always thought fish jumped because they did not have a middle finger.

I've never seen a jumping stingray down here on the South Coast.
